Purple Reign Family Festival for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee
On Thursday 2nd June from 15:00-22:00 The Rendlesham Parish Council will be hosting "Purple Reign" - A family orientated festival open to all to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee! Join us to celebrate this historic moment in time at Jubilee Park, Mayhew Road, Rendlesham, IP12 2GT. The Event is free to attend, just come and enjoy with family and friends.
There is something for the whole family so we encourage you to come along, bring a blanket and make a day of it! The event will be open from 15:00 with live music starting from 16:00. We have a selection of local musical geniuses that we cannot wait for you to listen to and enjoy. There will be very talented duosto keep you all entertained throughout the afternoon. Keep a look out on our social media where we will be releasing our lineup (watch out Latitude!).
There will be a yummy BBQ ran by our 1st Rendlesham Scouts, Ice Cream from Alexanders’ Ices and Coffi-Hut will be there too. Fancy raising a glass? Chris Burness from the Tavern will be on hand quench your thirst with a variety of alcoholic beverages as well as other food outlets available on the day. For our younger visitor or if you have a sweeter tooth why not grab some candy floss and enjoy the Children's Fun Fair ran by Bloomfield Amusements and more entertainment and stalls to be confirmed. As you all know, we are fundraising towards the costs associated with building the skate park in Rendlesham. Easton Farm Park have very kindly donated a family ticket to be used as a raffle prize to help aid the fundraising pot. The pass will allow 2 adults and 2 children entry to the farm. Visit the skatepark stand to enter.
There is a long tradition of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations with the lighting of Beacons, a symbol of unity. Rendlesham will have its very own oak Beacon erected in Jubilee Park to commemorate this momentous milestone in history! This will be lit at 9.45pm by Rendlesham’s very own Sir Michael Bunbury, Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk and appointed a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by H M The Queen.
To go celebrate this unique Royal Occasion and to go out with a bang we have arranged a fireworks display by Fully Fused which will be fit for the Queen!
We will be giving special Platinum Jubilee Mugs for our younger Rendlesham Residents. Please register your child’s details by sending over each child’s name, age and address to Events@RendleshamPC.org.uk . They will be available for collection at the Purple Reign Festival! Adults won't miss out though as mugs will be available for purchase too with all proceeds going towards the costs for the skate park.
