Rendlesham Events – Looking Forward

Published: 12 March 2025

As we move into 2025, Rendlesham Parish Council has undergone significant change and is firmly focused on the future of the village.

The council has been exploring ideas and options to revive Rendlesham’s cherished events while managing the current financial situation. We are pleased to share that discussions are underway to restore beloved events such as the Rendlesham Show, with the possibility of it being hosted by a funfair, and we are also considering how we might bring back the Fireworks Event this year, having secured the unused fireworks.

Following the cancellation of the 2024 fireworks event, the new council has conducted its own review of the circumstances. We found no clear evidence to support the decision to cancel and concluded that all necessary precautions and measures were appropriately managed in the lead-up to the event.

As we work to rebuild our events, we want to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of our Events Coordinator, Ellie Hutchinson, who we are delighted to confirm will once again be leading on event planning. While we cannot fund events directly due to financial constraints, we are committed to enabling them through sponsorship, collaboration with local organisations, and exploring opportunities for free community-led activities.

This council is focused on moving forward, learning from the past, and rebuilding a strong and vibrant community events programme. We appreciate the support of residents and organisations as we work together to make Rendlesham’s events successful and sustainable for years to come.
