A Word from the Chair 1st April

Published: 01 April 2025

It’s been another busy and rewarding couple of weeks for our Parish Council, and I’m delighted to share some of the latest updates with you.

Spring Clean Success Sunday (23rd), our amazing community came together for the annual Spring Clean with incredible enthusiasm and a record turnout! Together, we collected an impressive amount of rubbish from around the village—a true testament to our collective pride in keeping Rendlesham beautiful. In fact, we had so many volunteers that we ran out of hoops and grabbers! A huge thank you to everyone who took part and made this event such a success.

Unfortunately, we’ve noticed new littering in the area near the Community Centre. We are reviewing the CCTV footage and would like to remind everyone that repeat offences may be reported. Let’s all continue the brilliant effort we saw last weekend by keeping our shared spaces clean.

Community Centre Welcome We are delighted to welcome Bob to the Community Centre team! Bob has hit the ground running, rolling up his sleeves (pardon the pun) and already making a big impact by helping to spruce up the place. His hard work and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated, and we’re thrilled to have him on board.

Honours Meadow Allotments We know many of you are keen for updates about the Honours Meadow Allotments. At the moment, we are liaising with our contacts at Persimmons to get clarity on the situation. While we don’t yet have a formal update to share, we will inform you as soon as we do.

Play Park Repairs Great news—repairs to the play park in Jubilee Park are now completed and free for our children to enjoy once more.

Councillor Positions Open Do you want to make a real difference in our community? We currently have two vacant councillor positions, and we’re looking for passionate individuals to join us in shaping the future of Rendlesham. If you’re interested in this opportunity, please email your application to RPC. Your ideas and input could make a substantial difference in our collective efforts.

Old Oak Tree Concerns Finally, a quick update regarding the concerns around the Old Oak Tree. While there’s no news to report yet, this matter is being looked into, and we will share updates as soon as we have them.

RPC Surgery We mentioned last month that we would be looking to host a number of drop-in sessions or ‘Surgeries’ for you to meet us and tell us how you feel about the village. This is due to be held on Saturday 12th April 9am until 12pm. We will also be looking to host evenings and times during the week so don’t worry if you can’t make this one!

Thank you all for your ongoing support and active participation in making Rendlesham such a wonderful place to live.
