Word from the Chair - 1st November 2025
Published: 01 November 2025
I am delighted to share a round up of village news as we head into November.
Fireworks at Jubilee Park
Tomorrow, we bring the fireworks back to Jubilee Park after a year off. Many people have worked tirelessly to make this happen, from volunteers to organisers and stewards. Donations are gratefully received and you will see lots of QR codes around the park for contactless contributions. Most importantly, please come along, enjoy yourselves and stay safe. Follow stewarding guidance and keep an eye on children and vulnerable people. A gentle reminder that dogs and sparklers are not allowed, you will be asked to extinguish any sparklers that are lit and can cause delays to start of the display.
Dog fouling
We have seen an increase in dog fouling over the last few months despite our efforts to update bins and provide free bags around the village. This is still a problem and it affects everyone. Please pick up after your dog and use the bins provided. If you see repeat offenders, report them so we can target resources and keep our public spaces clean.
Christmas light switch on
Our Christmas switch on at the Square and the Community Centre is on 30 November. Generous donations from local companies mean we can offer a free Santa’s grotto with small gifts. Please remember to book your slot to see Santa to avoid disappointment. You can find a booking form at the Community Centre or simply drop them an email. Bring friends and family for an evening of lights and community spirit.
Park improvements and active travel
A new water station has been installed at Jubilee Park for public use. The first bike rack installation has taken place as part of the Tour of Britain scheme, funded by East Suffolk Council. These improvements make it easier to enjoy the park and to travel actively around the village.
Remembrance Day
Remembrance events will take place at St Felix Church and at Jubilee with Grace Church. There will also be a remembrance gathering on 11 November at 10:50am at the village sign. Please join us as we pause to remember those who served.
Youth provision
Just42 will begin their youth club on 10 November at the Community Centre.
Community support and projects
The council has provided a £10,000 donation from CIL funding to help the primary school purchase a new minibus. You may have seen in the news recently that things are progressing once more with the Skate Park project. We have had pre-planning advice and have now formally submitted plans, all going well we will move to the fundraising stage and will share further details as soon as we can.
Next Full Council Meeting
And finally, there is a public full council meeting on Monday 3 November for anyone who wishes to attend and hear updates or raise matters.
